This scanner works well and instantly with current SANE version from CVS. Infrared scanning doesn't work with the last stable SANE version, i.e. SANE Backends 1.0.18.
The only problem I've experienced so far is that although the --subframe scanimage command line parameter accepts higher values, it's actually useful only to about 3 mm. When the limit gets exceeded the corresponding end part of the full film field won't be scanned and you receive garbage there in the scanned image. I don't know how to scan film fields that don't fit within this limit of a given frame using the film strip feeder. I've got no idea whether this is a bug of the driver or a feature of the scanner.
