SoundBlaster Audigy LS on Linux

With the 2.6.15 kernel the card seems to work well at least for stereo analog output, with the exception that using it as an OSS device blocks it for other uses.

Older information

AFAIK, the sound card runs with the proprietary OSS drivers only. Creative Labs doesn't provide public programming specifications of the card and the chipset seems to be different of all the supported SoundBlaster cards. The manufacturer clearly doesn't care whether their hardware can be run with free systems.

As Sergio Hernendez has told me, an Audigy LS ALSA driver is available now. Basic sound output seems to run fine for me with that driver, except that sometimes the sound is broken when using the OSS emulation (e.g. the saytime program produces terrible noise) and microphone recording is not available at all. If something of it works better for you, please let me know.
